Properties and uses:
The pure product is colorless monoclinic crystal, and the industrial product is usually yellowish brown. It has a bitter and salty taste, is soluble in water and ethanol, and loses water and hydrogen chloride when heated to form magnesium oxide. It is easy to deliquescence and is used as an environmentally friendly deicing agent in road maintenance. In the metallurgical industry, it is used as a binder for refractory materials and furnace walls, and as a raw material for smelting metal magnesium; in the construction industry, magnesium chloride and magnesite are used to make hard magnesia cement and glass magnesium board, which can be used to make artificial stone; In agriculture, it is used as a cotton defoliant; in the food industry, it is used as a coagulant for tofu.
